Export Support Mechanism

Advancing exports requires better coordination between institutions and the private sector, as well as a re-examination of existing support mechanisms for companies.

In a conversation with the President of the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia, Branko Azeski, Aneta Dimovska, a project manager at the Chamber with experience in both the public and private sectors, pointed out that it is necessary to correct systemic weaknesses and assess whether current export promotion mechanisms are delivering expected results.

"As a state, we have established a mechanism intended to serve as support and promotion for exports. However, we need to see whether it is properly structured and whether it is delivering results. How many fairs were organized, how many fairs were visited, how many B2B meetings took place, how many photos were taken at them—that is not export support. Results should be measured by the number of concluded contracts, new markets secured, and so forth. Somehow, in my view, and I say this from experience, we get stuck on this first part," Dimovska assessed.
