The regional Master Course in Heart Failure awarded two plaques of gratitude in appreciation for the support provided in organizing this year's second conference. The first expression of gratitude was presented to the Economic Chamber, and the second, a special plaque, was awarded to President Azeski, with the shared expectation that this international conference will continue to be held in the coming years.
Heart failure is a widespread medical issue. Despite declining rates of certain other cardiovascular conditions, the incidence of heart failure continues to rise—partly due to an aging population and partly due to improved survival rates from other cardiovascular diseases.
Addressing this challenge, current European Society of Cardiology guidelines recommend that heart failure patients be treated through multidisciplinary programs and prioritized pathways.
Continuous education for cardiologists and nursing staff is essential to ensure adequate medical care for patients across different countries.
As the largest and most representative business association in the country, the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia—at the initiative of the Macedonian Society of Cardiology—supported and took part in organizing the regional Master Course in Heart Failure for the second consecutive year. The Chamber views this initiative as an opportunity for a broader social contribution to public health and for raising awareness about the importance of prevention, particularly among business leaders as a high-risk group vulnerable to heart conditions.
The event marked an initial step toward establishing long-term cooperation between the Chamber and the Macedonian Society of Cardiology in the field of heart failure prevention among executives, a demographic subject to a fourfold higher risk of developing heart failure.
To build a premier educational program on heart failure through the regional Master Course in Heart Failure, partnerships have been initiated with the European Society of Cardiology and leading European cardiology research and educational institutions—including the Zurich Heart House and the Heart Academy in London. This collaborative framework will facilitate the exchange of recent scientific insights from leading European experts in the field, alongside interactive and practical training designed to advance clinical skills in diagnosing and managing heart failure patients.
The second edition of the regional Master Course in Heart Failure took place in Skopje late last week in cooperation with the European Society of Cardiology and the Heart Failure Association. A major highlight in organizing the school again this year was the presence of current President Prof. Dr. Thomas Lüscher. The master course will be accredited and validated as an official educational event under the auspices of the association.
