The Economic Chamber of North Macedonia, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, the Agency for Foreign Investments and Export, SARIO, and the Embassy of Slovakia in the country, organized a Business Forum and bilateral meetings between companies from North Macedonia and Slovakia.

The event was held on the occasion of the working visit of a Slovak business delegation led by the Minister of Finance of Slovakia, Ladislav Kamenický.

The Forum was opened by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Timcho Mucunski, and Minister Kamenický.

More than 60 companies and institutions from both countries participated in the event. Through direct bilateral meetings, they presented their products and services, exchanged experiences, and initiated concrete discussions on future partnerships and investments.

In his opening remarks, the Vice President of the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia, Gjorgji Petrushev, emphasized that high-level political dialogue creates a stable framework for cooperation, but that real value is generated by companies—through investments, trade, innovation, and partnerships.

“Economic relations between our two countries show a positive trend, with a trade of 340.2 million dollars in 2025 and significant export growth. However, the fact that Slovakia ranks as North Macedonia’s 17th trading partner indicates considerable untapped potential. Our shared objective should be to deepen cooperation through new investments, industrial integration, and inclusion in EU value chains,” Petrushev underlined.

He pointed out that opportunities for enhanced cooperation exist in the automotive industry, energy and green transition, digital technologies, infrastructure, and innovation. Joint investment projects and knowledge transfer, he noted, would contribute to greater competitiveness and the creation of new jobs.

“As an Economic Chamber, we remain committed to building bridges between business communities and creating tangible opportunities for economic cooperation,” Petrushev stated.

Minister Mucunski noted that, in addition to the existing trade in the automotive industry and certain chemical products, new potential areas include energy, the ICT sector, and high value-added industries. Particular emphasis was placed on promoting Macedonian wine as an export brand.

Minister Kamenický assessed that entrepreneurs are the driving force of economic growth, carriers of innovation, and a bridge between nations. He added that the Forum serves as a platform for connecting ideas, experience, and innovation, as well as a signal for intensifying existing cooperation.

As part of the Forum, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed, further strengthening institutional and business cooperation between the two countries.
