Funding sources for financial and microcredit companies in North Macedonia are costly, which directly impacts borrowing rates for end-users, points out Nikola Joshevski, President of the Group of Non-Banking Financial Companies at the Economic Chamber. He notes that MicroBalkans 2026 presents an opportunity to build connections with European funds capable of providing lower-cost financing for domestic non-banking financial institutions.

The objective is to channel these funds to small businesses and demographics that face greater hurdles in securing bank financing, including socially vulnerable groups and women entrepreneurs.

Joshevski also anticipates Government backing through the provision of more affordable funding lines.

"We would then channel those funds to client segments that lack access to traditional banks," Joshevski emphasizes.
