In the coming years, microcredit in North Macedonia has the potential to increasingly focus on financing small and medium-sized enterprises, according to Nikola Joshevski, President of the Group of Non-Banking Financial Companies. As he notes, microcredit has so far primarily targeted individuals, with the next step being greater involvement in financing small and medium-sized businesses.
"We all know that small and medium-sized enterprises are finding it harder and harder to obtain bank loans, as these typically require mortgages or collateral requirements they cannot meet. We, as credit companies and financial institutions, are best suited to offer products through which they can swiftly and efficiently secure the funds they need right away and deploy them effectively. Because while for us it is simply capital or money, for them it can represent a new machine, a new product, entry into a new market, or growing their market share," Joshevski states.
