The rising prices of apartments, particularly the increasing cost per square meter, remain a hot topic in public discussions. During his appearance on MRT’s news program, Andrea Serafimovski, President of the Association of Construction, Building Materials, and Non-Metal Industry at the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia, emphasized that real estate prices are largely determined by market supply and demand. Skopje and Ohrid continue to be the most attractive locations for apartment purchases, but the sharp price increases are causing uncertainty among citizens.

"For some citizens, buying an apartment is an investment, but for the majority, it is a place to live. However, with this rapid price expansion, people need to be cautious. They must be well-informed about what exactly they are getting for the price they are paying," Serafimovski stressed.

He further explained that the difference between luxury residential units and standard commercial apartments is significant, making it essential for buyers to make informed choices to avoid confusion. Serafimovski welcomed the Government’s initiative to invest in residential projects by utilizing state-owned land and resources, aiming to curb the extreme rise in real estate prices.

Additionally, addressing the shortage of skilled labor in the construction sector, he noted that importing foreign workers is not a long-term solution. "The state must seriously consider developing a strategy to promote the construction sector as a viable career path for young people," Serafimovski emphasized.
